Early forecasts from Colorado State University expect the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season to be above average, with 14 named storms and a 63 percent chance that a major hurricane will strike the United States. Now in its 35th year, Colorado State's forecast is closely watched, but the authors warn that forecasts this far in advance may not be completely accurate.
