Coming Soon: A Fire Damage Restoration Standard

On

Restoration professionals could see the first-ever internationally accredited fire restoration standard, the Restoration and Documentation of Buildings Impacted by Combustion Particles or Fire Standard #2, by the first quarter of 2019. It will focus on how fire and smoke damage restoration work is done, and it will be just one of five component standards intended for eventual unification in a fire standard compendium. Volunteers and experts working on the standard have the support of the RIA and the Indoor Air Quality Association, and the latest draft with nine chapters and 20 informative appendices was submitted to ASHRAE for review, formatting, and peer review at the end of 2017. Peer review is an opportunity to get a look at the content of a guidance document that will shape an industry, and the review process will be open for 30 days.
