Believe it or not, one of the fastest growing segments of the flooring industry is concrete floors. This may be surprising, but concrete has typically been used as a core building material, an unfinished floor or a substrate for another flooring system. Now, we are seeing a massive growth in the use of concrete floors as the "finished floor" itself. Diamond-polished concrete floors can look mirror pools, and they take a minimal amount of maintenance. The low-maintenance aspect of concrete flooring has certainly become part of their appeal. There is a catch, though: Properly polishing concrete floors is not easy. It requires many sophisticated steps, not including the diamond polishing. There are, of course, other kinds of coating for concrete floors, all of which have their pros and cons. As the popularity of concrete floors continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how it evolves in different spaces.
