The labor shortage is harming the remodeling industry. According to the National Association of Home Builders' latest Remodeling Market Index (RMI) survey, which covers the third quarter of 2018, wages and subcontractor bids are up 78%, which translates into higher prices for customers. The survey found that customer prices rose 72%, while the ability of firms to complete projects has become more difficult.
